About Us
Norfolk Wherry Brass is based in the village of Neatishead, on the northern edge of the beautiful Norfolk Broads. The players rehearse on Tuesday evenings at the Victory Hall, in the centre of the village, starting at 7.30pm. Our Musical Director is Kevin Hegarty.
Neatishead is a small village, situated off the A1151 between Hoveton and Stalham, about 11 miles from Norwich.
The band's inaugural meeting was in March 2004. We are not a registered charity, but many of our concerts help to raise funds for local charities.
Our library of music is continually growing and we are able to provide a varied selection of musical entertainment, from "proms" to "pop" and lots more in-between.
The band competes nationally on a regular basis and we have had notable successes in our short history, including two appearances in the National Finals at Harrogate. We are currently graded as a Third Section band.
Despite our competition successes, our primary focus has always been to provide our audiences with interesting and varied musical programmes, played to a high standard.
We have been privileged to perform in venues such as Norwich Cathedral and Wymondham Abbey, as well as local churches and village halls.
Elected annually by the band members, we have a hard-working committee who are responsible for running the band.
